I just had my delivery and I took two doses of the TT injection as advised by my gynac. It didn't hurt much, just a little soreness in the arm for a day which is totally normal. It gives the baby immunity right from birth, so definitely get it.
Beta, in our days also, pregnant ladies were given this injection. It keeps you safe from any infections from rusted objects or during delivery time. After the injection, if your arm aches, you can apply a cold cloth gently, but don't rub it hard.
It's basically a Tetanus Toxoid shot to protect both you and the baby from tetanus infection during or after delivery. It is standard protocol and completely safe. Just get it done when your hospital schedules it, no big deal.
When I was staying at my mom's place during my second trimester, my mother took me to our family doctor to get my TT shots. It felt so reassuring having family around. It's a very standard injection that protects the little one, so please don't worry.
The TT injection is highly recommended by doctors to prevent tetanus in newborns, which can be fatal. Please consult your gynac about the exact weeks you need to get it. Never skip any vaccines prescribed by your doctor.
