Im 6 months now and lower back i expected, but its my upper back and shoulders that ache so bad especially by evening. Sitting at work makes it worse i think. Is this a normal pregnancy thing, anyone else getting upper back pain?
I had this in my last trimester so badly. It was the weight in front making me lean back. Once i started supporting my back with a pillow when sitting it got better. If its severe or with other symptoms do tell ur doctor though.
Hormones loosen ur joints and that adds to back strain too. My doctor okayed some gentle stretches and prenatal yoga and that really eased my upper back. Dont sit hunched on the phone for long, that makes it worse trust me.
Its mostly the posture changes and the extra weight pulling on ur upper back, plus as the belly grows ur shoulders shift back. Also the breast changes add weight up top. A good supportive bra and not slouching helped me a lot.
Its very common ma, the body is adjusting to the growing baby. My mother told me to keep my back straight and not lift heavy things. A little oil massage on the shoulders helped me relax, but if pain is too much always check with doctor.
For me it was sitting at desk all day. The upper back ache got bad till i fixed my chair and started taking short breaks to roll my shoulders. Warm compress at night also helped. If it gets sharp or doesnt ease, mention it to ur gynac.
