Got my routine blood test done in 2nd trimester and the wbc count is showing higher than normal. Doc didnt seem worried at all but i keep thinking about it. Is raised wbc just a normal pregnancy thing? anyone else had this?
From what I know being around hospital folk, a small WBC rise is expected in pregnancy, the body is just busy. Just dont self interpret your reports, let your gynac read them, they will tell you if anything is off.
My doctor told me a mildly raised WBC is normal in pregnancy because the body's immune system adjusts. She said dont panic if it is slightly high on a report, but a big rise with fever could mean infection and needs checking.
I saw my WBC slightly high and panicked and googled the worst. My doctor calmly said it is normal in pregnancy. Please ask your doctor instead of spiralling like I did, it saved me a lot of stress.
