This might sound like a basic question but i genuinely never understood the reason behind it. My periods stopped the moment i got pregnant and i was curious how the body knows to do that. Can someone explain simply?
My gynac explained it simply, periods happen when the uterus lining sheds because no pregnancy occurred. Once you are pregnant the lining stays to support the baby, and the hormones stop the cycle. So no period is actually one of the first signs of pregnancy.
Simple baat hai beta, the body now feeds the baby with that lining instead of releasing it monthly. Bhagwan ne aisa banaya hai. Periods return some months after delivery, depends on feeding also.
I actually wondered the same thing when I first got pregnant. So the body keeps the lining for the baby instead of letting it go each month, makes sense now. Learning so much through this whole journey.
Because the lining that normally sheds each month is now holding and nourishing the baby. Hormones pause the cycle for the whole pregnancy. Thats why a missed period is usually the first clue.
And just to add, even after delivery the periods can stay away for a while if you are breastfeeding a lot. During pregnancy itself the hormones hold everything to protect baby. Mine came back only after I reduced feeds.
