I caught a bad cold and cough this week, im 14 weeks now. Im not taking any medicine on my own and will ask my doc, but mainly im worried does the cold reach the baby in any way? Pls tell me if u went through this.
I caught a bad cold in my 5th month and I felt so scared the whole time. But my doctor reassured me a normal cold doesnt reach the baby, the baby is well protected. I just rested and drank warm fluids and it passed.
Beta a simple cold wont harm the little one. We used to take warm haldi milk and steam, that helps the throat. But if u get high fever, dont take any medicine on ur own, show the doctor first.
A normal cold is usually fine, but please watch out for high fever during pregnancy. When I had fever my gynac wanted to see me immediately. So if it goes beyond a runny nose and u feel feverish, do call ur doctor.
My amma kept making me kashayam and warm rasam when I had a cold during pregnancy. It soothed me a lot. But for anything more than a mild cold I always checked with my gynac, that is the safest.
