I have had hypothyroidism for a few years and just found out im expecting, around 6 weeks. Im a little worried about how it can affect the baby and my pregnancy. Anyone here gone through this, how was it for you?
It can affect things if left uncontrolled, thats why I never missed a single thyroid test. Once your gynac and the dose keep it in range, you and baby are usually fine. Just keep that follow up tight.
Dont let this scare you. So many of us go through pregnancy with thyroid perfectly fine, the trick is just taking your medicine on time and testing as advised. Your doctor will keep a close watch.
I had hypothyroid through my whole pregnancy and it was totally manageable with medicine and regular tests. The key is keeping levels controlled, so dont skip your thyroid tests. I had a healthy baby, dont panic.
My doc said uncontrolled hypothyroid can cause issues, which is exactly why they monitor and adjust your dose during pregnancy. Once its well controlled the risk drops a lot. So the answer is, controlled = mostly fine, just stay regular with checkups.
I had thyroid along with my IVF journey and I was so worried too. But honestly with proper monitoring and meds it all went smoothly. Lean on your doctor for the levels, and try not to carry the fear alone.
