I had a small kidney stone diagnosed just before i found out im expecting. Now im worried how it will affect things going forward. Has anyone gone through pregnancy with a stone, how was it?
I had stone trouble and during pregnancy it does need careful watching, but it can be managed with the right doctor. The main thing was staying very well hydrated and regular monitoring. Please tell your gynac about your history so they keep an eye on it.
My doctor said stones during pregnancy are handled conservatively when possible, mostly with fluids and pain management, since options are limited. They monitor it closely with scans. So the key is to flag it early and follow the doctor's plan.
It can cause discomfort but with proper care it usually doesnt harm the baby. The safest thing is to keep your gynac and possibly a urologist in the loop. Drink lots of water and dont self treat.
