I have such a sweet tooth and its getting worse in pregnancy lol. A bit worried because my mil keeps warning me about sugar and diabetes. How much does sugar really affect things, anyone?
My sweet tooth went mad in pregnancy honestly. I made deals with myself, like fruit most days and one proper mithai on weekends. Worked for my cravings and my reports stayed clean.
My gynac said excess sugar raises risk of gestational diabetes and excess weight gain. She told me to cut sugary drinks and packaged sweets first. Natural sugars from fruit in moderation are fine she said.
Too much sugar can, I learnt this the hard way with gestational diabetes. They make you do the GTT test around 24-28 weeks. Sweets in small amounts are okay but dont go heavy, and keep up with your sugar tests.
A laddoo here and there wont harm, but loads of sugar daily isnt good for you or baby. I kept treats limited and focused on fruits for the sweet craving. Balance is the whole game.
Don't stress if you eat dessert sometimes, totally normal. Just dont make it an everyday everything thing. Cravings are real, satisfy them in small portions and you are good.
