Are soaked wallnuts more beneficial during pregnancy?
My mom soaks walnuts overnight and gives me every morning, says its better for the baby brain. I usually just eat them dry. Is soaking really making a difference or its just a habit thing?
My mother in law insisted on soaked walnuts and almonds every morning, said it's good for baby's brain. I found them lighter to eat soaked, less heavy feeling. We trust it but I'd still say everything in moderation.
Haan beta, soaking nuts overnight makes them easier on the tummy and we always believed it helps absorb better. I gave soaked akhrot and badam to my daughter all through her pregnancy. Just 1-2 a day is enough, no need to overdo.
Soaking removes some of the tannins so they sit lighter, that part is true. Whether 'more beneficial' or not, walnuts are a healthy snack in small amounts either way. Don't eat a fistful expecting magic, a couple is fine.
Soaking does make walnuts gentler to digest and reduces that heaty feeling some get. They have good omega fats which are nice in pregnancy. Keep portion small though, and if you have any nut allergy obviously check with doctor first.
