Can blood sugar increase due to betnesol vaccine in pregnancy?
Doc gave me betnesol injections last week and now my sugar reading looks higher than usual. Got a bit worried matlab is it because of the injection or something else. Anyone had this happen?
Haan na, betnesol dose ke baad blood sugar level badhta hi hai, it is a very common side effect. My sister had the same issue and her doctor said it settles down in a few days. Par tension mat lo, and apbe doctor se ek baar confirm kar lo ho na.
Betnesol steroid does increase blood sugar temporarily from what I know, but please monitor it closely. Drink lots of warm water, eat light home-cooked meals with fiber, and avoid sugary snacks. If the sugar levels stay very high for more than 2-3 days, call your doctor immediately.
Oh yes! My sugar shot up like crazy after that injection and I had to strictly control my sweet cravings for a few days, which was so hard for me. It is usually temporary, but do check with your doctor so you don't overindulge in delicious food while the levels are high.
When I was at my parents' house and got this injection, my father made sure we monitored my sugar levels regularly because it does go up. My mother kept my diet very simple with no sugar or heavy carbs for those few days. Please take rest and let your doctor know about the readings.
With twins, I was practically living at the doctor's clinic and got these shots to be safe. My sugar levels went through the roof for two days, making me feel like a walking bakery! It's just the steroid doing its work, so don't panic, but do keep your gynac in the loop.
Same here, my doctor also prescribed betnesol for baby's lungs and my sugar levels spiked the next day! I got so worried but my gynac said it's normal. Did your doctor ask you to monitor it daily or check again after a week? Let me know what they suggested!
Yes, betnesol is a corticosteroid which is known to cause a transient rise in maternal blood glucose levels. Don't worry, it usually goes back to baseline within 48 to 72 hours. Just keep a log of your readings and show them to your obstetrician to see if any temporary insulin adjustment is needed.
