My doctor told me to start folic acid before pregnancy, and now I am wondering if it improves chances too. We are trying since two cycles. Did anyone conceive soon after starting it or is it just for baby health?
I had the same hope when we started trying, but my gynac said it wont speed things up, it just prepares your body. She still asked me to take it daily though. Worth starting early either way I think.
Not faster, no, but yes you should be on it when planning. It's about preventing certain birth defects in the early weeks, not about timing conception. Ask your doctor which one and how much to take, that's the practical bit.
My doctor told me folic acid doesnt make you conceive faster, but it's super important to start before and during early pregnancy to protect the baby's development. So it's about a healthier pregnancy, not speed. She had me start it while we were still trying.
I looked into this a lot while planning. Folic acid prepares your body and protects the baby early on, but it doesnt actually make you conceive sooner. Still everyone says start it before trying, so I did.
From my experience folic acid isnt a fertility booster, it didnt make conception quicker for me with PCOS. But it's recommended for early pregnancy health, so I took it. Please check the right dose with your doctor based on your case.
