Sometimes I get these intense cravings, and cup noodles sound so tempting right now. But I'm not sure if they are a good option for pregnant women. Can I have cup noodles occasionally during pregnancy?
As a working mom, I know how easy cup noodles are when you're exhausted after work. If you must eat them, add some boiled eggs, paneer, or lots of veggies to add some actual nutritional value, and don't make it a daily habit.
I felt so guilty when I ate cup noodles in my first trimester bcoz of extreme nausea. My doctor comforted me and said satisfying your craving occasionally is much better than staying hungry, so go ahead and enjoy it sometimes.
Occasionally is totally fine to satisfy a craving, but remember they are loaded with MSG and sodium which can increase water retention. Just don't replace your actual nutritious meals with them.
During my pregnancy, I craved instant noodles so much, but I restricted myself because processed food can cause bloating and constipation. It's okay to have it very occasionally, but try to eat fresh, home-cooked food most of the time.
Cup noodles have a lot of sodium, maida, and preservatives which aren't great, especially if you have insulin issues like PCOS. Having it once in a blue moon is fine, but try to avoid making it a regular snack.
Don't feel guilty if you really want to eat them today. Just have it once in a while when nothing else tastes good, but try to drink extra water afterwards to balance out the high salt.
