Can hyperthyroidism cause false negative pregnancy test?
I have thyroid issues and on medication for it. My period is late and i feel pregnant but the test keeps showing negative. Now im wondering if the thyroid is messing with the result somehow. anyone with thyroid faced this?
Honestly with thyroid in the picture I'd not rely only on a home test. Get a blood test (beta hcg) done through your doctor, its much more reliable and clears the doubt.
I had thyroid issues during my pregnancy and my test was still accurate. Thyroid affects your cycle and periods, not the hcg the test reads. But pls keep your thyroid in check with regular doctor follow ups, thats important.
My doc explained thyroid can mess up your cycle so you may not know when to test, but it doesnt directly cause a false negative. A negative is usually about testing too early or low hormone.
Both thyroid and PCOS made my periods unpredictable so timing tests was hard. The test itself was fine though. Ask your gynac for the blood version to be sure.
