I used to do planks regularly before and want to stay active. Im 14 weeks now. Not sure if its safe to keep doing or if it puts too much pressure on the belly. Anyone still doing core stuff?
I would avoid it, especially as your bump grows. Your core gets stretched a lot, and keeping it safe now will make your postpartum recovery so much easier.
Planks put a lot of intra-abdominal pressure which can cause diastasis recti (belly separation). It's better to switch to modified planks on your knees or wall pushups instead.
My prenatal physiotherapist at the hospital strictly told me to avoid standard planks after the first trimester. Always consult your hospital's fitness expert before doing core workouts.
Arre, who has the energy for planks when you can just lie down and eat some hot samosas instead! Better stick to basic walking and avoid heavy core exercises.
Exercise is great for gestational diabetes, but heavy core exercises like planks might not be safe. Check with your gynac or a prenatal expert for safe pregnancy-specific workouts.
