It's getting quite hot, and I often crave a glass of chilled water. My elders sometimes say not to drink very cold water during pregnancy. Can I take cold water during pregnancy, or is it really something to avoid?
Ghar pe mom and dadi usually say cold water causes cough, so I preferred clay pot (matka) water. It is naturally cool and very soothing for acidity too, try that!
Actually I also had cold water in my 1st trimester and then freaked out thinking it would give baby a cold. But then I read online it doesn't affect baby, though maybe matka water is safer and cooler?
Of course you can, pregnancy is not an illness. Just drink clean, filtered water, cold or normal temperature doesn't matter as long as you're hydrated.
My pregnancy tracker app says drinking cold water is actually a great trick to make the baby move if they are quiet! It's completely safe, just avoid contaminated ice from outside.
