I recently took an MX test for something else, and it unexpectedly showed a positive line. Can an MX test actually detect pregnancy, or is this just a coincidence, yaar?
Yes, it can be positive. But listen, positive test doesn't mean you have active TB right now. Take the report straight to your doctor, they will probably suggest a safe chest X-ray or other tests.
I totally understand how scary it is to see a positive test result when you're pregnant. Don't stress, just show the report to your gynac and they will guide you safely.
It's safe to do this test in pregnancy, and yes it can come positive if you have latent TB or had BCG vaccine earlier. Just run it by your doc, don't play doctor on Google with two babies on your mind!
I completely understand the panic, my anxiety used to go off the roof with any positive lab report. But please relax, a positive Mantoux test just means you were exposed to the bacteria, it doesn't mean you are sick. Your gynac will explain it clearly.
