I always hear elders saying dont eat papaya during pregnancy, it can be risky. Now im scared because I had a little raw papaya in a sabzi yesterday without thinking. Is it really something that causes contractions? bit worried tbh.
My ammama always warned against papaya, so I skipped it out of respect. Doctor also said no harm in avoiding raw one. I just didnt risk it na, ate other fruits instead.
Yaar just skip the raw one and you are fine, no need to panic. If you ever feel cramps after any food, call your doctor. Dont stress over a fruit too much.
My gynac told me its the raw/unripe papaya that can cause problems because of certain enzymes. Ripe papaya in moderation she said was fine for me. So it depends on the type, not papaya overall.
I had a sensitive pregnancy so I just avoided papaya completely to not take chances. If you ever feel cramps or contractions after eating anything, call your gynac. Better careful than sorry.
I accidentally had a little ripe papaya before reading all this and panicked. Did others have ripe one and were fine too? Now I just avoid it to keep my mind at peace.
Beta, in our homes raw or half ripe papaya is always avoided in pregnancy, elders are strict about it. Fully ripe one is said to be okay in small amount. But to be safe please ask your doctor first.
