Bit of an awkward question but it's been on my mind. Im 7 months along and thoda worried it might cause something or open the cervix early. Did your doc say its okay or did they ask to avoid?
Haha, don't worry, the baby is safely locked inside with a very strong mucus plug! Sex won't just open the cervix like a door. Unless your gynac has strictly put a 'no entry' sign due to some medical reason, you are completely good to go!
In a joint family, nobody openly talks about this, so I had to ask my doctor very quietly! She told me that in the last weeks of pregnancy, semen has certain natural compounds that can help soften the cervix, but it won't just open it suddenly. As long as your doctor says your pregnancy is normal, there is nothing to fear.
Let's be clear about this. In a normal, healthy pregnancy, sex does not cause the cervix to open prematurely or lead to miscarriage. However, if you have history of early labor, bleeding, or if your doctor has told you to be careful, then definitely avoid it. Always check with your gynac first.
With twins, my doctor put a strict ban on sex from day one just to be extra safe, so we had no choice. But for a single, normal pregnancy, it's usually totally fine unless you have complications. Just don't try any gymnastics, keep it simple and comfortable!
Unless your doctor has specifically told you to practice pelvic rest due to a low-lying placenta or other issues, sex is generally safe. In early or mid-pregnancy, it won't magically open your cervix or trigger labor. I was also super scared during my pregnancy, but looking back, I realize our bodies are designed to protect the baby very well.
