I used to do kapalbhati every morning before and it really helped me feel fresh. Now im 8 weeks and not sure if all that stomach pumping is safe. Anyone continued pranayam during pregnancy?
My prenatal yoga teacher and my gynac both said no to kapalbhati during pregnancy. Slow deep breathing and gentle stretches are fine, but anything that pumps the abdomen hard is off limits. Best to do prenatal specific practice.
I love my yoga but I dropped kapalbhati the moment I got pregnant, the sharp abdominal pumping isn't advised. I switched to gentle breathing, anulom vilom and walking, all after my doctor okayed it. Prenatal yoga classes are safer because they know what to skip.
Please don't do kapalbhati in pregnancy without asking your doctor first. The forceful belly movements aren't recommended during pregnancy. I had a complicated pregnancy and my gynac told me to avoid all stomach pumping pranayam completely.
I'd skip the kapalbhati for now beta, it's too forceful on the tummy. There's lovely gentle pranayam you can do instead that keeps you calm. Just check with your doctor what's right for your stage.
