We make kathal sabzi at home often and i was about to cook it when my mom said avoid raw jackfruit in pregnancy. Im in my first trimester so being extra careful with food. Is this just an old belief or actually a thing?
We cook raw jackfruit as a sabzi at home and I ate it in moderation, it's fine when properly cooked. My amma made a lovely kathal curry for me. Just have it cooked well and not in huge amounts, and check with your doctor if unsure.
Cooked raw jackfruit as a vegetable is fine in normal amounts, I ate it. Just make sure it's well cooked and fresh. Like anything, dont overdo it, moderation is the key in pregnancy.
Beta, we always ate kathal cooked as a dish, never a problem. Just have it in reasonable quantity and properly cooked, not raw raw. Some elders say not too much, so keep it occasional.
