I always slept on my back before but now in my 6th month i keep reading we shouldnt. The thing is i just cant get comfortable on my side. Anyone else struggle with this? how did u manage ur sleep?
I keep waking up and finding myself on my back and then panicking. Does anyone else do that? My doctor said dont stress, just turn back to your side, your body usually shifts on its own anyway.
Early on it's fine, but from around the second trimester onwards doctors usually suggest sleeping on your side, preferably left, as the bump grows. Back sleeping later can press on a big vein and make you feel dizzy. Side with a pillow between knees is comfiest.
My gynac explained that after about 20 weeks lying flat on the back can compress the vena cava and reduce blood flow, some women feel lightheaded. She said side sleeping, left ideally, is best. A pregnancy pillow really helped me stay on my side.
In the later months side sleeping is recommended, but dont lie there worrying about it all night. If you wake on your back, just turn over gently. A pillow behind you helps you stay put.
Sleep on your side they said... easier said than done when your back is begging haha. A pillow wall around me was the only thing that worked. Just dont sweat it if you wake up on your back, roll over and carry on.
