I mean sleeping on my stomach, thats my favourite position since always. Now im 20 weeks and pet is showing properly. Is it okay to still sleep that way or should i stop? Anyone else struggle with this?
Hey, don't stress too much about this! In the first trimester, you can totally sleep on your stomach if you are comfortable, because the baby is tiny and well-protected inside. But as your belly starts showing, you'll naturally have to switch to sleeping on your side. Grab a pregnancy pillow, it's a lifesaver!
Sleeping on your stomach or 'ulta' is fine in the very early weeks [3.1.2], but as your bump grows, it's not practical or safe. I focused a lot on daily prenatal yoga and stretching to help me sleep better, but only after my doctor gave me the green light. Better to train yourself to sleep on your side early on.
I felt so frustrated during my second trimester because I am a strict stomach sleeper and suddenly I couldn't do it. Honestly, I felt so guilty even if I accidentally rolled onto my stomach at night, but my doctor told me the baby is cushioned in amniotic fluid and perfectly safe. Just try using lots of normal pillows to block yourself from turning.
Medically speaking, sleeping on your stomach or 'ulta' isn't harmful in the first few weeks as the womb is deep in the pelvis. But by the second and third trimesters, it's strictly side-sleeping (preferably left side) to keep the blood flow to the baby perfect. Start practicing side-sleeping now so it becomes a habit.
Haan na, starting me it's totally okay to sleep like that if you feel comfortable. But baad me once the tummy grows, left side pe sona is best for the baby. It's so hard to change sleep habits suddenly, ho na? Thoda cushion supportive use karo, help milegi.
