Caught a bad cold and blocked nose, so uncomfortable yaar. I usually take vicks steam but now im unsure if its fine in pregnancy. Im in my second trimester. Anyone did steam safely?
Beta, pregnancy me zyada strong dawaiyan aur chemicals se bachna chahiye. Plain garm paani ki bhaap lo, usme thoda sa pudina (mint) ke patte daal lo toh nose turant khul jayega. Cold ke liye thoda garm paani piyo aur aaram karo ghar pe.
Medicines for cold can be risky and doctor visits just for a blocked nose add to unnecessary costs. Plain water steam inhalation is completely free and very effective. Try that first at home, and keep a steamer machine handy so you don't have to run to the clinic for small issues.
I had a terrible cold during my first trimester and was so scared to take any medicine. I took plain water steam and sometimes added just a tiny drop of Vicks, which was totally fine and relieved my nose block. My baby is a healthy toddler now, so don't worry too much.
I also get colds easily and was wondering if Vicks is safe when trying to conceive or during early weeks. Most people suggest plain steam inhalation is much safer and chemical-free, so maybe try that first just to be on the safe side.
Look, plain steam is 100% safe and you don't even need Vicks in it to get relief. If you do want to use Vicks, just use a tiny pinch, don't put too much as the strong smell can trigger nausea. Just inhale for 5-10 minutes and wrap your head well.
Honestly, plain hot water steam is the safest option and works beautifully for congestion. You can add a little ajwain (carom seeds) to the water instead of Vicks, as sometimes strong menthol can be irritating. But if you have a fever or breathing difficulty, please call your gynac immediately.
