After meals i love a meetha paan, purani aadat hai. Now that im pregnant everyone at home is saying chhod do. Is it really a problem or just the supari part? pls share.
Actually, plain betel leaf is fine, but that sweet meetha paan has too much gulkand and supari, yaar! Better to avoid it completely during these months. Just have some saunf if you want a mouth freshener.
Instead of paan which might have harmful supari or chemical colors, just chew a little bit of roasted saunf or mishri at home. It is cheap, safe, and works great for digestion after meals.
I have been craving meetha paan so badly lately! But my doctor said absolutely no betel nut or tobacco during pregnancy. Is a homemade plain betel leaf with just a little saunf okay to eat?
I accidentally ate a bit of meetha paan at a wedding and panicked for two days thinking I harmed my baby. My doctor reassured me that a tiny bite of plain paan won't do anything, but told me to avoid it in future. So don't worry, just stay away from it now!
My saas strictly forbade me from eating paan because betel nut is not good for the baby. She instead gave me roasted carom seeds (ajwain) with a little salt for my digestion. Try that, it really works!
Do not eat paan from outside shops. The supari and tobacco in it can be very harmful for fetal development. If you really have a digestion issue, ask your doctor for a safe antacid instead.
I wouldn't recommend it, honestly. Even though I kept up with my regular doctor-approved yoga to stay fit, I strictly avoided paan because of the risk of supari or additives. Better to stick to healthy fresh fruits.
I know those pregnancy cravings can make you desperately want a sweet paan! But for the sake of that precious little baby in your arms soon, it's best to control this one craving. You can have a grand paan feast after delivery!
Listen to me, dear. It is best to avoid paan altogether right now because you never know what ingredients they mix in shops. Your baby's health is top priority, so just stick to simple home-cooked food for a few months.
