Can you get enough folic acid from food during pregnancy?
I hate swallowing tablets and im wondering if eating right is enough on its own. Im 9 weeks now and trying to eat lots of greens and dal. Did anyone manage mostly through food or is the supplement really a must?
Food gives you good folate but it's hard to hit pregnancy levels from diet alone, that's why the supplement is standard. Eat your greens and also take what the gynac prescribed, both together.
My mother fed me lots of greens and dal which is great for folate. But my doctor still gave the tablet and said food alone wont fully cover it. So I trusted her and took both happily.
Honestly the folic acid tablet is cheap and the food is everyday stuff anyway, so I did both. Spinach, oranges, dal at home plus the supplement. No point skimping on something this basic and important.
Food helps but its not enough alone in pregnancy yaar. Palak, dal, citrus, beans all add folate, but the requirement is high so doctors still give the tablet. I ate well and took the supplement both, dont skip the tablet.
