My doctor prescribed this for me last week and only after coming home I realised im pregnant, around 6 weeks. Now im a little worried whether it can affect the baby. Has anyone taken this during pregnancy? I plan to call my gynac tomorrow but wanted to hear ur experiences first.
Some medicines are considered okay in pregnancy and some not, and it really depends on dose and trimester. Acyclovir is one your doctor can decide on properly. I wouldnt trust google over my gynac for this.
From what I know docs do prescribe it during pregnancy when the benefit is more than the risk, like for active outbreaks. They dont just hand it out though. Best is to ask ur gynac why exactly u need it na.
I got prescribed acyclovir for a herpes thing in my second tri and honestly I was scared too. But my gynac said it was needed and monitored me closely. Pls dont decide on ur own, let ur doctor weigh it for ur case.
Oh I always panic about meds in pregnancy too. Did a doctor give it to u or u taking on ur own? Pls just confirm with the gynac once, that calmed me down everytime.
