Does drinking cold water during pregnancy affect the baby?
Its summer and i keep craving thanda water all day. My saas keeps stopping me saying it will harm the baby and cause cold. Is there any truth in this ya its just an old saying? anyone else heard this?
I specifically asked my senior consultant and the nursing staff at my hospital about this during my first trimester. They laughed and said cold water is absolutely fine, especially if it helps with your morning sickness. Just avoid too much ice if you have a sensitive throat.
Chill dear, nothing happens to the baby if you drink cold water. Pregnancy already makes your body feel so warm, so cold water is actually very refreshing. Just don't drink it if you are already prone to catching a cold or throat infections.
I literally drank ice-cold water throughout my summer pregnancy because of extreme heat. My baby is now two months old and perfectly healthy! It doesn't cause any cold or cough to the baby, don't worry.
Logically speaking, the water you drink reaches your stomach first, where your body immediately warms it up to your core temperature. The baby is safely insulated in the amniotic sac, so cold water won't bother them. Drink whatever temperature makes you feel comfortable!
I totally understand why you are worried, I also used to think even small things like cold water would harm my baby. But honestly, it's just a myth! Your body temperature regulates the water immediately, so it doesn't affect the baby at all.
I am currently planning my pregnancy and was just researching this exact same thing! It's so good to know from other moms that cold water is safe, because I can't imagine surviving summers without it.
