My doctor explained it as the G P system, gravida is total pregnancies including the current, and parity is past deliveries. So the current pregnancy adds to gravida, not parity yet. It confused me too until she drew it out.
No, parity counts the pregnancies you have carried to a viable stage and delivered, not the current ongoing one. The current one is your gravida. So your doctor writes it as gravida and para separately.
