How doctors test pregnancy?

Home test showed positive and im going to the gynac next week. Just curious how the doctor confirms it, is it blood test or scan or both? havent done this before so a little nervous.

The blood test is cheap and quick at any lab, the scan costs a bit more so I did it only when the doctor asked. Ask the clinic upfront what they charge na.

They confirm with a blood hCG test which is more reliable than the home strip, and an ultrasound establishes how far along you are. Best to go in and let them guide the steps.

My doctor did a blood beta hCG test which confirms even earlier than home kits, and then an early ultrasound to check the dates and heartbeat. The blood one is very accurate.
