I'm in my first trimester, and my belly doesn't look much different yet. I'm curious about how and when the belly typically starts to grow during pregnancy. Does it depend on the person?
First trimester is basically just looking like you had a very heavy biryani lunch! The real baby bump only decides to make an appearance around the 5th month. After that, it grows so fast that you'll suddenly find your favorite kurtis won't fit you anymore!
According to the tracker apps, your uterus is only the size of a lemon in week 8, but by week 20, the top of your uterus reaches your belly button! That's when your bump really becomes noticeable. Tracking it week-by-week helped me understand my changing body so much better.
Honestly, my belly barely showed until I was 5 months pregnant, and then suddenly overnight it popped out! By the third trimester, it literally felt like I was carrying a heavy watermelon. It's amazing how much the skin can stretch, just keep applying coconut oil to avoid dryness.
Humare yahan kehte hain ki har mahine bacha thoda thoda bada hota hai, toh pet bhi dheere dheere badhta hai. In the first three months, it doesn't show much because the baby is very small. After 4-5 months, the bump starts looking round and beautiful, touchwood.
I always watch pregnant women and wonder how the belly changes month by month! It's so fascinating how the body accommodates a tiny human. I guess it starts as a tiny bloating and then gradually expands from the lower abdomen upwards.
In the beginning, the growth is very slow and you might just look slightly bloated rather than pregnant. By the second trimester, around 16-20 weeks, a cute little bump starts showing up clearly. Every body is different, so don't compare your bump size with other moms, as long as your scans are fine.
