I only did squats so I could justify eating those extra laddoos, haha! But seriously, 10 easy squats with a chair for support is more than enough. Don't strain yourself!
Squats are good, but you must check with your gynac first because some conditions like a low-lying placenta require complete rest. If cleared, you can start with 5-10 very gentle ones daily.
My mother-in-law was skeptical, but my doctor highly recommended light squats for pelvic strength. I used to do about 10-12 gentle squats daily under supervision. Just listen to your body and trust your doctor's advice.
I am not an expert, but I personally did about 15 squats a day in my second trimester with support. I stopped when my belly got too heavy. Everyone's body is different, so go slow.
