Just found out im pregnant and going for my first appointment next week. Trying to mentally prepare and budget also, how many tests usually happen across the whole pregnancy?
My doctor explained roughly: blood tests, urine, blood group, sugar, thyroid, hemoglobin in early months, then the dating scan, anomaly scan around 18-20 weeks, glucose test, growth scans later. The exact list depends on ur health, she gave me a chart.
Plan it ahead because there are several across 9 months, scans and blood work mostly. I clubbed appointments to save trips. Ur gynac decides the count based on ur condition, no universal number yaar.
Honestly the tests add up cost wise, so I asked my doc which are must and which are optional. The basic scans and blood panels are needed. Ask ur doctor for a list at the start so u can budget for it.
Theres no fixed single number, it varies per person. Generally a few blood tests, 3-4 scans, sugar and thyroid checks. Ur gynac will tell u what u need at each visit, just keep all reports in one file.
