First pregnancy here, currently in second trimester. My gynac keeps calling me for scans and im just wondering how many sonography in total are usually done? dont want to do extra unnecessarily. anyone knows?
I have already had 3 scans and I'm just in my second trimester! Is it normal to have more if the doctor wants to monitor closely? Sometimes I get a bit nervous before each one.
Usually, it's about 3 to 5 scans throughout the nine months if everything is going smoothly. I had a few extra ones near my delivery date to check the baby's position before my C-section. Recovery is a bit slow but definitely worth it!
I lost count after a point, feels like I was living at the scan center! But generally, it's 3-4 main ones unless your baby decides to be dramatic and needs extra monitoring like mine did.
It is completely normal to feel anxious about how many scans are needed. Standard is usually around 4 scans—dating, NT scan, anomaly scan, and growth scan. Don't worry, these are just to make sure your sweet baby is doing fine.
I had thyroid issues, so my doctor kept a very close eye on the baby's growth. I ended up having about 6 scans in total. It is best to stick to whatever schedule your gynac suggests for your specific health needs.
