Sorry might be a silly question but i always get confused with the counting. People say 9 months and others say 40 weeks. Just want to understand the full duration properly, can someone explain?
I just learnt this recently, it's about 40 weeks total which is roughly 9 months. They count from the first day of your last period, which confused me at first too.
Standard is 40 weeks from your last period. Doctors call 37 weeks onward full term, so even slightly early is fine. Your due date is just an estimate, very few deliver exactly on it.
We always say 9 months but technically its about 40 weeks. My babies both came a little before the due date and were perfectly healthy. Your doctor will give you the date based on the scan.
A full term pregnancy is around 40 weeks, counted from your last period date. But babies can come anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks and still be normal. My first came at 39, second at 38.
