How to control gestational diabetes during pregnancy?
My recent test showed high sugar and doc said its gestational diabetes. Im 26 weeks and honestly a bit shaken since i never had sugar issues before. Want to manage it well with diet and all. Ladies who went through this, how did you handle it?
When I had this, my family wanted to feed me more thinking baby needs it, but I gently followed the dietician instead. Switched to millets, more veggies, less rice. Family love is there, but trust the doctor's plan na.
With a full work day it felt hard, but I prepped meals and kept healthy snacks at my desk so I never reached for junk. A 10 min walk after lunch fit easily. Honestly small habits, but stay regular with your sugar checks.
I had GD in my pregnancy so I really get this. What helped me was small frequent meals, cutting sugar and refined stuff, and a short walk after meals. My doctor also sent me to a dietician for a proper plan. Please follow your own readings and what your gynac says, every case differs.
Don't panic about the diagnosis, so many women manage it well and have healthy babies. Just take the diet and monitoring seriously and stay in touch with your gynac. You've got this, take it one meal at a time.
My gynac explained it's mostly managed by diet and light activity, and they keep checking your sugar readings. She told me to log my fasting and post meal values daily. Only if diet doesn't control it do they consider medication, so the food part is really key.
