My cousin's child is autistic and ever since I got pregnant this thought keeps coming in my head. Is there any scan or test in pregnancy that can tell, or is it something we only know after birth? Just want to understand, im a little anxious honestly.
I used to worry about every possible thing during pregnancy too, so I get it. But this one really cannot be known beforehand, and worrying only tires you out. Talking to my doctor calmed these spirals for me.
Honestly there is no prenatal test for autism, it is identified much later in childhood through development. Best to just keep up your normal checkups and not worry over what cannot be predicted. Your doctor can address specific fears.
From what I understood, autism cannot really be diagnosed before birth, there is no scan or blood test for it. My doctor said routine prenatal screening looks at other things. If you have concerns, genetic counselling can explain what is and isn't testable.
