Just found out im pregnant, around 6 weeks. The nausea and tiredness is hitting me hard and i feel so lost about what to do and not do. First time mom here, pls share how you all got through these early weeks.
Oh the nausea, I lived on dry toast, lemon water and small frequent snacks because empty stomach made it worse. Ginger and a few biscuits by the bed before getting up helped me a lot. Start your folic acid, sleep more, and if vomiting gets so bad you can't keep water down, call your doctor.
At home my amma kept feeding me small portions of rice and curd and tender coconut water for the nausea and it really helped settle my stomach. Don't skip rest. But for the folic acid and your first checkup, go straight by your doctor, that part is non negotiable.
Honestly the first trimester was the hardest for me emotionally and physically. I felt sick, exhausted and weepy and I thought something was wrong. Rest whenever your body asks, eat small bites often, and don't be hard on yourself for doing less. It does get better around week 12-13, I promise.
Keep it simple. Folic acid daily, eat little and often, hydrate, and don't lift heavy stuff. Skip the over-googling, it'll only scare you. Book your first scan and just ride out the tiredness, energy comes back in the second trimester.
Take it slow and keep your mind calm in these early weeks. Eat what stays down, rest plenty and start your supplements. I leaned on a little quiet time each day to stay positive. And do keep your first doctor visit, that gives so much reassurance.
I just came out of mine and god it was rough, did anyone else feel like they couldn't even smell food? I survived on curd rice and naps. What helped me was not comparing to others and just letting myself rest. Hang in there, week 13 felt like a switch flipped.
