We are still in the planning phase, not pregnant yet. My MIL keeps saying i should prepare my body for feeding. Is that even a thing you can do before pregnancy? would love to hear from experienced moms.
My gynac told me milk production is driven by hormones after delivery, mainly prolactin. There are some medical situations where doctors induce lactation but that is supervised, never something to try on your own. So please ask a doctor if this is for a specific reason.
In my case I didnt do anything special beforehand, the milk came in a couple of days after delivery once baby started feeding. The more baby fed, the more it built up. So dont worry about it before pregnancy, your body knows.
I was curious about this too while planning. From what I gathered it really starts during pregnancy itself, not before. Good to focus on overall health for now and let the rest happen naturally.
Elders at home always say good food and rest help milk later, but that is during and after pregnancy. Before pregnancy there isnt really anything for milk specifically. For anything beyond normal, please check with the doctor only.
Normally milk comes after pregnancy, the body starts preparing in the later months and colostrum comes near the end. Before pregnancy you dont really need to do anything for milk. If there is some reason you want this, only a doctor should guide it.
