My gums bleed while brushing and it looks scary even though it stops quickly. I am in second trimester and never had this before. Should I see dentist or ask gynac first?
My dentist said pregnancy hormones make gums swell and bleed more, called pregnancy gingivitis. She told me to use a soft brush, brush gently twice a day and floss. Also keep up vitamin C foods. It improved a lot after i switched to soft bristles.
Very common in pregnancy, dont panic. Soft toothbrush, gentle brushing, warm salt water rinse helped me. But if bleeding is heavy or gums really painful, see a dentist, they handle pregnant patients all the time.
Switch to a soft brush right away, that one change made the biggest difference for me. Brush twice, rinse with salt water once. Try not to skip your dental cleaning, i booked it during lunch break only.
Beta gargle with warm salt water morning and night, it soothes the gums nicely. Eat oranges, amla for vitamin C. But dont ignore if it keeps bleeding, get a dental checkup, its safe during pregnancy.
