How to reduce gestational diabetes during pregnancy?
My sugar test came back on the higher side and gynac said its gestational diabetes. Honestly im a bit shocked coz i dont even eat that much sweet. Im 26 weeks, anyone who managed this with diet, what worked for u?
With a busy schedule I kept it simple, swapped white rice for less quantity, carried roasted chana and fruit instead of snacks, and a 10 min walk after lunch and dinner. Realistic small changes worked better than crash dieting. Keep ur doc updated on sugar levels.
I had GD and what really helped was small frequent meals, cutting down rice and sweets, and a short walk after eating. My sugar came down nicely with diet itself. Always go by ur dietician and doctor's plan though, dont copy random diets.
My doctor stressed three things, portion control of carbs, more protein and fibre, and walking after meals. She also made me check sugar at home and note readings. Each body is different so the readings guide how strict u need to be.
GD diet doesnt have to be expensive, simple home dal, sabzi, less rice and walking did most of it for me. The glucometer is a one time buy and saves a lot of worry. Stick to the routine and doctor follow ups.
