How to reduce itching on stomach during pregnancy?
My stomach has started itching a lot lately, especially in the evenings. I'm in my second trimester. Does anyone have tips on how to reduce this itching during pregnancy?
Hey, don't stress too much about the itching, it's just your little baby growing and stretching your skin! Keep a bottle of good moisturizer or Bio-Oil handy and apply it 2-3 times a day. And seriously, don't scratch with your nails, use a soft cotton cloth if it gets too bad!
When my stomach started itching, I asked my doctor at the hospital during my weekly checkup just to be safe. They recommended a specific fragrance-free moisturizing lotion and told me to watch out for itching on my palms and soles. If the itching is too severe all over, clearly discuss it with your gynac.
Honestly, my belly is so big now that it feels like a dry desert and it's constantly itching! I just keep a tub of moisturizing cream next to me and slather it on like butter on toast. It's the only way to survive this 3rd trimester without scratching like a monkey, haha!
This stretching skin itching is so annoying! I used to apply cold aloe vera gel and it gave such a soothing feeling. Keep your skin super hydrated with olive oil or body butter, it really helps! 🌸
Oh, my stomach was itching so badly in my second trimester that I panicked thinking I had some liver issue! But my gynac said it's just the skin stretching. I started applying pure coconut oil right after my bath, and it worked like magic! It's completely normal, don't worry.
I completely understand how uncomfortable and irritating that constant itching can be, it used to drive me crazy and keep me awake at night! But it's usually just your skin stretching. Apply a thick layer of moisturizer, but if the itching is severe and everywhere, tell your doctor to run some blood tests just to be safe.
It's just your body making room for the baby, so the skin gets dry and itchy. Try to avoid hot water baths as they dry out the skin even more, and use lukewarm water instead. Apply a good amount of coconut oil or almond oil right after drying off to lock in the moisture.
