my mom gifted me some kesar and keeps telling me to take it for the baby's complexion (i know thats just a myth na). but i actually wanna know the right way matlab in milk, how much, from which month? curious to hear what u all did.
I just delivered three months back! I used to have saffron milk in my second and third trimesters. I just dropped 2 strands in hot milk, let it sit for 5 minutes till it turned yellow, and drank it before sleeping. It really helped with my mood swings and muscle stretches.
Look, don't believe those myths that saffron will make the baby fair, that is all genetics! But yes, it is good for digestion and sleep. Just soak 2 strands in milk and drink it. Don't put spoonfuls of it, too much heat is not good for the body.
I used to have saffron milk too, but since I had gestational diabetes, I had to drink it completely sugar-free. If you are adding saffron to your milk, make sure you aren't adding extra sugar or heavy dry fruit powders that can spike your glucose levels.
You should only start saffron after your first trimester is over, and that too in very limited quantity like 2 strands a day. Excess saffron can actually cause uterine contractions. I'd highly suggest checking with your doctor during your next scan before starting it.
I know how stressful it is to think if we are doing everything right or if we will hurt the baby. For saffron, I was so anxious too! I only started it in my 5th month, just adding 1 or 2 strands to warm milk at night. Don't worry, a very tiny amount is perfectly safe.
Saffron milk is lovely and helped me stay calm and relaxed, which is so important for a normal delivery. Just 2 strands daily is more than enough. Keep your mind happy and active, you are doing great!
