My gynac has written calcium tablets but i already have a lot of milk and curd in my diet daily. So just wondering if the tablet is really needed or is the diet enough. What did ur doctors say?
Its needed yes, and good news its not expensive, comes in govt hospitals too. Along with the tablet I tried to have more milk, curd, ragi which is cheap and good. Dont buy fancy brands, the basic one the doctor gives works fine.
My gynac explained calcium is important in the later half of pregnancy for the baby's bones and also helps your BP. She also said take it at a different time from iron tablets coz they interfere with each other. Worth asking your doctor how to space them.
Along with what my doctor gave, my family made sure I had ragi and lots of curd which is naturally good for calcium. But the tablet is still important, I never skipped it. Follow your doctor on the dose.
Yes its usually prescribed, the baby pulls calcium from you so they supplement it to protect your bones and teeth too. Both my pregnancies I was on it. Take whatever dose your doctor wrote, dont skip it.
