We are telugu and gongura pachadi is like everyday food at our home. Im 4 months now and just wondering if eating it regularly is fine ya should i go easy on the sourness? Anyone from andhra side who ate it through pregnancy?
Hamare yahan toh ambadi ya gongura bolte hain, aur thoda sa dal mein dalkar khana bahut accha hota hai. Isse khoon ki kami nahi hoti. Bas dhyan rakhna ki acche se dhokar hi banana aur zyada teekha mat rakhna.
Honestly, I was so scared to eat anything sour or different during my pregnancy because of my past miscarriage. If you really crave gongura, just have a tiny bit of home-cooked dal but avoid the spicy market pickles. Always better to ask your gynac first just to be 100% safe, it's not worth the stress.
I just delivered my baby last month and honestly, I ate gongura dal till my third trimester. It really helped me with my hemoglobin levels which were quite low. Just make sure you drink plenty of water after having it so it doesn't cause any gastric issue.
Oh I absolutely love gongura! 😋 Yes it's super good and has lots of iron which is great for baby. Just don't overdo the spicy pickles as they can give you heartburn later in the night. Enjoy your cravings! 💕
Mere ghar pe toh MIL strictly said no to spicy gongura pickle because they believe it causes body heat. But my mom said a little bit of gongura pappu (dal) is fine once in a while for iron. So I just had it occasionally in small quantities and it was completely fine.
Since I had PCOS, I was always extra careful about my sugar levels and diet during pregnancy. Gongura is fine because of its iron content, but make sure you don't eat it with too much white rice or high-sodium pickle. Balance it out with other veggies and consult your doctor to be safe.
Gongura is highly nutritious and loaded with iron and folate, so it's generally fine. However, since every pregnancy is different and some of us are prone to severe acidity, it's best to discuss with your gynac once. Having it in cooked form like a mild dal is much safer than heavy pickles.
I actually tracked my nutrition on an app and saw gongura is amazing for folic acid and vitamin C. Just make sure you wash the leaves thoroughly to avoid any infections from dirt. Don't eat too much of the ready-made pickles though, they have too much salt!
Honestly same here, I have been craving sour things lately and wanted to eat gongura pachadi. But I got so nervous thinking if it is safe or if it causes heat. Have you guys had it in your second trimester? Did it cause any stomach upset?
Look, there is no need to overthink every single vegetable. Gongura is completely safe and actually helps with constipation because of its fiber. Just don't eat those oily, spicy pickles daily. Make a simple dal at home, eat it fresh, and you're good.
I had a C-section recently and my recovery has been smooth, but during my pregnancy I was very prone to constipation. Gongura dal really helped me ease my stomach naturally back then. Just keep the spices low so you don't get gas pains, which are anyway tough to deal with later.
Gongura is actually quite good as it has high iron and folic acid, which we really need. But eat it in moderation, especially if it's in spicy pickles because that can cause bad acidity. Stick to simple home-cooked dal with gongura and you will be absolutely fine!
In our homes we make gongura pappu and pachadi very often, and my mother-in-law also encouraged it for iron. But I still asked my doctor during my checkup just to be sure. She said it's totally safe as long as it's hygienic and not too spicy, so enjoy it in limit.
I used to love gongura dal during my pregnancy and had it quite often without any issues. But honestly, now that I am breastfeeding, my elder sister told me to avoid it as it can sometimes affect milk supply if taken in excess. For pregnancy, a small bowl of dal is very safe and yummy.
Even I was wondering about this yesterday! My mom said it's healthy but I'm still in my first trimester and super cautious. Can we eat it with rice or does it have to be only in small portions? Let me know if your doctor allowed it.
