Is it necessary to take medicine during pregnancy?
My doc has given me iron and calcium and some other tablets but honestly i hate swallowing so many pills daily. Are all of these really must or can some be skipped? curious what others were told.
Not all medicines, but the supplements your doctor gives like folic acid, iron, calcium are actually important, not optional. Beyond that u dont take anything without asking her. So it depends on what u mean by medicine.
I used to think why so many tablets but my doc explained each one. With my history she was extra careful about what I took. Trust ur gynac on the prescribed ones and skip everything else.
The prescribed iron and calcium are worth it, dont skip those to save money, they matter. But u also dont need every fancy supplement the chemist suggests. Stick to ur gynac's list, thats the necessary part.
My mother in law also asked same thing, why so many medicines. But the prenatal vitamins are for the baby's growth na, doctor knows best. We followed exactly what was written and everything went fine.
The basic ones like folic acid in early months and iron calcium later are needed for baby and u both. Random medicines no. Whatever ur gynac prescribes, take it on time, that part is genuinely important.
