I used to do surya namaskar daily before and want to continue but not sure if its safe now in pregnancy. Im 11 weeks. Did anyone keep doing it, or should i stop the forward bends?
My mother does yoga daily and even she said avoid the intense surya namaskar during pregnancy. Gentle breathing and simple stretches are calmer. I followed my doctor's go ahead before anything.
I was told full surya namaskar with all the bending and lying on tummy is not advised in pregnancy. My prenatal yoga teacher gave me modified gentle versions instead. Please only do it if your doctor and a trained teacher approve.
Honestly I stopped surya namaskar completely after I got pregnant since I had some issues. The deep stretches and forward bends felt risky for me. Definitely ask your gynac before continuing any of it.
