When I had a bad sore throat during my pregnancy, my doctor told me to avoid random over-the-counter lozenges. I stuck to warm herbal teas and saline gargles which gave me great relief. Do consult your doctor if the pain is too much.
I have a terrible throat scratch too and was wondering the exact same thing! Did your doctor say it's okay or did you find an alternative? I am too scared to take anything right now.
I am trying to conceive and even I am very careful about over-the-counter medicines now. Maybe you could try warm water gargles first? It is probably safer to ask your doctor before taking Strepsils.
No need to take unnecessary medicines for a simple throat itch. Just do hot salt water gargles 3-4 times a day and drink warm ginger water. If it is still bad, ask your gynac before popping any lozenges.
My pregnancy tracker app mentioned that some lozenges contain active ingredients that might not be fully tested for pregnancy. It is always safer to double-check with your gynac. In the meantime, steam inhalation and warm honey-water really help.
