Have a really bad dry cough that wont let me sleep at night. Someone at home gave me a syrup with this and only after i checked the name and got worried. Im 14 weeks. Will confirm with my doc but wanted to know if anyone has any idea.
Best not to self decide on any cough medicine while pregnant yaar. For a normal cough warm water, honey in warm water, steam and rest help a lot. For the actual syrup, only take what your own doctor specifically approves for you.
Honestly I would never take any cough syrup in pregnancy on my own, even ones that seem common. When I had a bad cough I called my gynac and she prescribed something she felt was ok for me. Please dont guess with medicines, just ring your doctor.
I am very careful with this kind of thing. Cough syrups have different ingredients and not all are studied as safe in pregnancy. Do not take it without your doctor clearing it, message or call your gynac with the exact name and let them say yes or no.
Skip self medication completely in pregnancy, even simple looking syrups. When I had cough I told my doctor and she gave me a safe option. Call yours, tell the medicine name, and only use it if she says ok.
