Is mopping the floor a good exercise during pregnancy?
My mother-in-law keeps telling me that mopping the floor is good exercise for pregnant women, especially to prepare for delivery. Is this actually true, or should I be careful with such activities during pregnancy?
I am also thinking of starting this, but isn't it risky to bend so much in the third trimester? Did your doctor specifically allow you to do the traditional sitting pocha, or are you using the long mop?
Haan na, purane log toh bolte hain pocha lagana best exercise hai normal delivery ke liye. But mere doctor ne mana kiya tha squatting ke liye starting mein. Aap ek baar apne doctor se puch lo na pehle.
I literally delivered my baby just 2 months ago, and honestly, doing heavy household chores like mopping was too exhausting for me. My lower back started aching badly in the third trimester. I stuck to simple evening walks instead, which felt much safer.
My MIL also told me to mop the floor daily for an easy birth! 😅 Honestly, just do it if you enjoy it, but don't force yourself if your back hurts. Light walks and stretching are also super fun and much easier! 🌸
Squatting while mopping is actually a great way to open up pelvic muscles, which helped me a lot during my normal delivery. But please make sure you don't overdo it or strain your back. Do it only if your body feels completely comfortable with it.
Medically speaking, squatting exercises can help pelvic floor muscles, but traditional mopping can put too much pressure on your lower back and cervix. If you have any complications like placenta previa, it's a strict no. Better ask your gynac before trying it.
My pregnancy tracker app suggested pelvic floor stretches and squats instead of traditional mopping, which can sometimes cause slips or lower back strain. Using a long handle mop is fine, but for proper exercise, targeted prenatal yoga videos are much safer and tracked.
Honestly, who has the time and energy to mop floors after a long working day? If you want exercise, just do a 20-minute walk after dinner. It's much more practical, less risky, and doesn't leave you with a backache for the next day's meetings.
