Im in my second trimester and a friend kept telling me to start omega 3 for the baby's brain. My gynac never mentioned it so im a bit confused. Did anyone here take it during pregnancy, did your doc suggest it?
My gynac actually prescribed omega 3 to me in second tri, she said its good for baby brain and eyes. But she chose the brand and dose herself, so pls dont just pick one off the shelf, ask your doc first.
I asked my doc the same coz the supplements arnt cheap. She said if i eat enough fish and nuts i may not even need extra, but for me she still added it. Worth asking before spending.
Both my pregnancies i was on omega 3, doctor added it along with the usual iron and calcium. Its generally considered good but always let your gynac decide if you need it na.
My amma kept giving me fish and walnuts saying same thing, good for baby. Doctor also added a supplement later. Food plus what doc gives, that worked nicely for me.
Yes its commonly recommended, mostly the DHA type. That said dont self start it, dosage matters and your doctor will tell you the right one for your stage.
